Clash of the Titans

Clash of the Titans

Yes, I know it’s a movie about ancient gods, but for some reason, among all the legends of those ancient gods, it has endured within the Christian world. There’s a reason for that. Other than the fact that it’s a great adventure story, it displays, in quirky, confused, and disjointed ways, mixed with error, the gospel. It’s as if the desire throughout history of man for release, for liberty, for meaning, is tracking the purpose of God, which is to bring that liberty to man through a man. But not just any man. The movie demonstrates how it must be some other kind of man, “born to kill the Kracken.”

Dominion – Whose? When?

Dominion – An Inevitable Concept

“For unto the angels hath he not put in subjection the world to come, whereof we speak. But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man, that thou visitest him? Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands: Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him. But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.” Hebrews 2:5-10.

But it couldn’t do away with the general reference to man, could it? No, it also refers to man in Christ, the new creation, the second Adam. Continue reading “Dominion – Whose? When?”

The Matrix – Post 8

The Matrix – Mr. Smith

Mr. Smith, the agent for the Machine, software that can enter and leave any other software in the Matrix. He is one of three agents we see, and they are all something other than human in their actions and speech. Particularly revealing is Neo’s experience in the interrogation room, before he knows what is going on. Mr. Smith comes across as a professional, unemotional law enforcement officer, but he also comes across as something else. The 3 agents are a demonic trinity, and Mr. Smith is in charge.
