The Book of Esther Played Out in Acts

In Acts 4, Peter continues the accusation that Jesus began. He accused the Sanhedrin and the High Priest of killing the “Blessed One.” The Apostles’ message of comfort for all who would listen changed once they appeared before the Sanhedrin & that leadership began their attempt to stop the message. Peter turned to accusation because he had made his choice – Christ, the King. It was either Christ or the establishment. The apostles and other of Christ’s followers, like Stephen, clearly thought Christ would be victorious over the establishment of that day. The establishment thought they would survive somehow within the Roman system or escape it in the future somehow. Christ and His apostles focused on God and his judgment of who should succeed and prosper into future generations; the establishment relied upon political power, negotiation, gamesmanship, waiting the Romans out, as they had waited out the other empires that had taken Israel captive. In that waiting, however, the establishment ignored Daniel’s interpretation of Nebuchadnezzar’s dream and the other visions Daniel saw. Federal courts are constitutional entities authorized by God to determine and apply the law to the lives and businesses of Americans, equally and without partiality. According to Romans 13 and the rest of the bible, such authorities like the federal courts are to protect the righteous and punish the wicked. This is a godly function to be highly revered and obeyed. Your interpretation of the courts’ function can easily become godless. How?

Acts Chapter 3 & “Till His Enemies Are Made His Footstool”

In another message in Act, Peter seems to say that the new is still to come.

“Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you: Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.” Acts 3:19-21.

The Disciples Acted Like the End was Near

Consider the book of Acts. In Acts 2, after the crowd made comments about the disciples appearing drunk, Peter preaches and quotes from the prophet Joel:

“For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day. But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; ‘And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke: The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come: And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.'” Acts 2:15-21.

Jacob has been Slandered by Preachers & Teachers

Jacob – A Bad Rap

Whenever you hear a message involving Jacob, you hear about how he was such a deceiver, manipulator, and cheating scoundrel.  AT best, these messages are superficial in their analysis of the story of Jacob and Esau. It is often cloaked in some misled intent of showing that God saves and blesses even the sinner. But this is the overwhelming message of the bible – God saves sinners. However, it is not contrary to that message to recognize good characters in the bible, knowing all the while that they also are sinners in need of grace. Daniel and Joseph are perfect examples. They were men of good, even sterling, character, yet we don’t get misled and think that they had no sin.
