The Myth of Secular Judicial Independence – post 1

The Myth of Secular Judicial Independence

In principle, the concept of judicial independence is a Christian concept. Without a God to whom the judge is answerable and in whose place the judge rules, there is nothing to stop the judge from simply following the ruling elite’s direction. You could argue that in a secular system popular election would provide the potential for some independence. However, notice how the ruling elite complains about all the “problems” surrounding popular election – the people are ignorant, campaign contributions corrupt the judges, it’s “unseemly.” These are the ostensible reasons for prohibiting the people from choosing their own judges, but the real reason is that when the people choose their own judges, the unions of legal professionals (bar associations) and the ruling judges and politicians have little or no control over who becomes a judge, and this they cannot tolerate.

Avatar & Deuteronomy 7

Avatar is an interesting combination of The Matrix, Dances with Wolves, and Shrek. The Matrix because it involves a human electronically entering another world to live on a different plane; Dances with Wolves because it involves the conversion from Christianity (or some form of agnosticism) to a native religion of animism; and because it involves morphing into another being entirely and remaining that way. I’d like to focus on the Dances with Wolves aspect in this post.

In Dances with Wolves, the American soldier eats a form of communion with the natives by eating raw blood of a buffalo, he marries into the tribe, and he adopts their religion by learning about their view of the deity and adopting that view of life. The process in Avatar is even more explicit, for Jake begins the Continue reading “Avatar – post 5”

Daniel – The Key Timing Prophecy

Daniel – The Key Timing Prophecy

I’d like to take a break and talk about Daniel, a key timing book in the Old Testament. So many get Daniel wrong, yet it is so simple. Think about Daniel 2 and the simplicity of the history predicted: There will be 4 kingdoms, Babylon through Rome, and then the kingdom of God shall replace all of them and grow to fill the earth. So simple. Yet, the so-called literalists do all they can to obscure the meaning by claiming its fulfillment is yet future. So futile, so overly complicated, so un-literal, so unfaithful, so perverse. Yet they claim to be the ones faithful to scripture. Yet, they deny Daniel his due. Nay, more importantly, they deny Christ, the stone the builders rejected, the stone cut out without hands, the stone that is the foundation, the cornerstone of God’s kingdom, His due. They deny Him His great work on the cross. They deny its full efficacy, they deny Him the full honor of His first coming and what He accomplished.

Notice the timing so clearly stated, yet overlooked by the interpreters:

“Ministers of God” – Romans 13

“Ministers of God” – Romans 13

Romans 13 calls those in political office “ordained of God” and “ministers of God.” Romans 13:1,4. What kind of minister? How are they different from pastors and preachers in the Church? Is there a difference between church ministers and political ministers?

First, there must be a difference biblically. In Israel, the priesthood was separate from the political, at least, in governmental function. The king who tried to offer incense as if he was a priest suffered immediate judgment from God, in the form of leprosy. “And they withstood Uzziah the king, and said unto him, ‘It appertaineth not unto thee, Uzziah, to burn incense unto the LORD, but to the priests the sons of Aaron, that are consecrated to burn incense: go out Continue reading ““Ministers of God” – Romans 13″

Avatar – Even the Title

The scientific world of the West looks upon the word avatar as meaning “a visible manifestation or embodiment of an abstract concept; archetype.” The entertainment game world of the West views the term as meaning “a user in a multi-user virtual reality (or VR-like).” But the word “avatar” in Hindu mythology means “the descent of a deity to the earth in an incarnate form or some manifest shape; the incarnation of a god.” Dictionary.com. Thus, even the title shows the theme of the man from heaven coming down to people, taking on their form, and giving his life to save and rule them.

Matthew 24 – Part 8 – What is “the sign?”

What is “the sign?”

“And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.” Matthew 24:30-1.

So, what is that sign? Could it mean the sign that the Son of man is in heaven and not a vision of Him coming from heaven? The sign that the Son of man is in heaven refers to Jesus’s statement to His accusers in Matthew 26:64: “Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.” In other words, Jesus knew that after He was executed, resurrected and ascended to heaven, He would have all power in heaven and on earth to destroy His enemies and His church’s enemies.

What Was Meant by “A Unique System of Laws?”

Moses Gave Israel a Unique System of Laws

Israel’s system of government, including its judiciary, was unique in the ancient world, purposely so. It was meant to cause God’s chosen people to stand out. It was the ideal system, meant to demonstrate how wise God’s people were, not in themselves, but in the law they had. “Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these statutes, and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.” Deuteronomy 4:6. However, more importantly, it was also the society and system of government into which the Messiah was to be born and live. How much more should it have been the ideal and model for the world of what God wants?

More on Jake & His Calling

When Jake gets left because he was chased by some huge Pandora black panther-type beast, a fantastic scene by the way, he has to find his way in the dark. The female Avatarian, Natiri, saves him and tells him it’s his fault the animals that attacked him had to be killed. His existence in the forest, his ability to make fire (none of which would have saved him in the movie – symbolic of technology not saving man; then how did you make your movie without technology – one of many self-contradictions in the movie), are an affront to Pandora. He’s supposed to mingle with the wildlife, with nature, not take dominion over it. Yet, even the Pandorans take dominion over the creatures, like the horse-like creatures and the flying dragons. More contradictions.

In the Director’s Edition on the DVD there are 16 extra minutes, which has some key events narrated. Natiri’s sister was killed by the humans, shot in the Continue reading “Avatar – post 3”

The Savior of Science – -The Faithfulness of God means the Reliability of Legitimate Science post 2

God’s faithful Word means the reliability of science’s laws

Cont’d from Post 1, May 9, 2017.  Excerpts from The Savior of Science:

“Jeremiah’s argument (rather similar to the one in Ps 88) is clearly a reductio ad absurdum, the absurdity of any conjecture that the order of nature would ever show any instability. Almost in the same breath the same reductio ad absurdum is in sight as Jeremiah describes the stability of the physical world (the sequence of day and night) as a covenant betweenYahweh and nature that would sooner be broken than would His faithfulness in keeping His covenant with the people of Israel (Jer 33:25-26).”
