The Bridge on the River Kwai

Carrying Water for the Enemy

You’re on the Bridge on the River Kwai. Remember the classic WWII movie about the persistent British Colonel who stood for the Geneva Convention, the rule of law, against the Japanese POW Camp Commandant who tortured him but ended up giving in to his consistent stand? A story about a victory for standing for the rule of law, but there’s a twist. After that victory, the British Colonel loses sight of the big picture – the Japanese Army is his nation’s enemy. As POWs, his men work on the bridge over the River Kwai, which will Continue reading “The Bridge on the River Kwai”

Avatar – post 1

Don’t focus on the obvious bait for conservatives in Avatar

The danger in discussing Avatar is to concentrate on the negatives, political, religious, military justice. There are so many. While I’d like to touch on some of those things, lest people think I endorse all of the movie’s messages, I want to concentrate on that which comes through sometimes unintentionally, sometimes subtly, and which can teach us about living biblically. I’d like to get the negative out of the way by the following basic statements and questions.

Ruth’s Acts Evidence a New Heart Formed by God’s Special Grace in Covenant Adoption

Ruth was saved

Ruth, the Moabitess, is a heroine of faith on the same level as Rahab. It is no wonder then that she also comes to be a part of the genealogical line leading to Israel’s greatest Kings, David and his greater son, Jesus Christ. Her faith, which was demonstrated in her acts of faith, was deep and persevering, thus showing that her faith was based on much more than sentimental attachment to her mother-in-law. Her acts showed a deep work in her heart by the God of salvation, the God who promised that those “shalt find him, if [they] seek him with all [their] heart and with all [their] soul.”[1]

Thoughts on Fr. Stanley Jaki’s Writings

Thoughts on Father Stanley Jaki’s Writings by Stacy Trasancos (Link to Trasanco’s book above)

“John writes, ‘And the Word was made flesh, and came to dwell among us; and we had sight of his glory, glory such as belongs to the Father’s only-begotten Son, full of grace and truth.’ (Et Verbum caro factum est, et habitavit in nobis: et vidimus gloriam ejus, gloriam quasi unigeniti a Patre plenum gratiæ et veritatis.) John used the Greek words μονογενοῦς παρὰ, translated as monogenes, the ‘only begotten’ Son of the Father, and in Latin as unigeniti.

Matthew 24 – Part 5 Jesus Makes Clear “When” – So When Will We Listen to Him?

Jesus Makes Clear “When”

“And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.” Matthew 24:2.

“Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.” Matthew 24:34.

Like bookends, Jesus explains perfectly when His coming occurred. Yes, occurred – past tense. Particularly when we have the benefit of historical hindsight, our refusal to listen to Him now is even more unforgiveable. Jesus told His disciples that not one stone of the temple would stand upon another, then the disciples asked Him when that event would happen, then Jesus told them. The temple was destroyed in 70 A.D. I hate to tell you this, but you have missed the Great Tribulation.

Adding to the Law – As Bad as Subtracting

Adding to the Law

When he was president, I was thinking about what I would have said to President Barack O’Bama. You know how you think when you think you’re smarter than everybody else. I would like to explain the danger of politics. One of the dangers is the contrast with faith. Faith seeks to be right with God, and He will give power to that faithful one. Politics is the attainment of power without any need to be right with God. When you’re poor and weak and God gives you power, you know you’re on the right track, not perfect, but on the right track. But with politics, how do you know you’re using power rightly? Do you need faith? Do you help the poor? Who are the poor? Is it those without means, or is it those who are pursued for their means? I mean, can you vote the largesse of those with means so that you can enjoy the product of their work? Does “Thou shalt not steal” not apply as long as a majority says it’s okay? Can you steal by using the ballot box?

Inception – post 3

Inception’s Maul, Cobb’s Deceased Wife

You can download the pdf of the paper on:  Inception

There is more to the difference between Maul (spelled phonetically). After Cobb taught her to doubt her reality, Maul had no standard for distinguishing between God’s reality and the dream world. She was a post-modernist or, at least, a nihilist. Her decision to go back to the limbo world – accomplished by suicide – is apparently based on pure desire. There, she had her husband to herself, and they built and lived without any interference from others. It was a selfish world, built around her love that was so possessive and possessed. Because she has no standard to compare this world with (like the thimble top), she cannot distinguish between real and unreal. So, we without the bible, cannot distinguish between the real and the unreal. Our modern problem has never been lack of information; it’s been too much.

Heresies, Liberals, & Galatians 5:20

Heresies, Galatians 5:20

The ESV fails dramatically in certain portions of the scripture, indicating either a deception that has crept into the conservative view of scripture or a purposeful attempt to subvert the scripture by a liberal or liberals among the Translation editors. The error as to one particular word in the list of the works of the flesh is a deadly error in that it relieves heretics of having their sin in the list of those works. And it works to the benefit of those who attack, undermine, and take over conservative denominations.

Yes, It’s Time to Cast Aside Secular Humanist Law and Education

Yes, It’s Time to Cast Aside Secular Humanist Law and Education

Evolution’s System of Law:

  1. Man as the only reasoning animal on planet earth is in charge, sovereign, the supreme One. Man is the true god.
  2. Some men are higher than others in the pyramid of hierarchy; the more intelligent, the more advanced, the more skilled in political manipulation – Obey them for they’re the judges.
  3. Law is not fixed but is evolving along with man. Law is what those in 2., above, say it is for the rest of us based on they themselves create or change. Be ready for it to change tomorrow . . . or else.
  4. You will be brought into line with the rules of 3., above, or be punished, and no religion will save you.
  5. The future is bright, as long as you fall into line and let the smart people in 2., above, stay in charge and tell you and everyone else what to do. The people in 2., above, will guide us through the evolutionary process and avoid an extinction event, but we must be united as a species. If we think your religion might hold back our progress as a united species, then our survival is really much more important than your beliefs . . . or even you. Get the picture?
