The Dangers of Hermetically-Sealed, 2-Box, Church-State Jurisdiction

Church vs State Jurisdiction

The Church’s jurisdiction is broader than that of the State. The Church’s jurisdiction is limited as to what forms of punishment it may impose. For example, it is denied the use of “the sword,” which is the God-endorsed tool of the State. However, the Church can discipline any sin and assign the punishment appropriate to that sin. It must have such broad jurisdiction because God’s kingdom has total jurisdiction over all things, all men, all women, the Church, the State, the Family, the grass, the animals, the dust of the earth, the stars of the heavens; God rules over all and has given all authority to His Son, who is the Head of the Church.

Response to Atheist’s Attack on Christian Scientists (not the religion of Christian Science)

Response to Mr. Kraus’ Opinion Piece in the Wall Street Journal on Christian Scientists (not the religion of Christian Science)

I read the June 26, 2009 opinion piece by Mr. Lawrence M. Kraus and found his rational atheism to contain irrationality and false views of Christian scientists (not the practitioners of the religion of Christian Science). First, the centerpiece of science is not atheism, in practice or theory. The fact that the world runs on principles that are repeating, predictable, and reliable enough for scientists to base trustworthy predictions and proof is evidence of the faithfulness of the Creator and his promises, not evidence that there is no Creator. Mr. Kraus appears to premise his understanding of Christian scientists as only believing in the miraculous and out-of-the-ordinary, like the virgin birth.

Acts chapters 6 & 7

The Prophet Stephen, aka Martyr

Stephen, above all others in the New Testament Church, even the apostles, understood the timing issue. See Acts chapters 6 and 7.

What was the faithful Israelite’s attitude at the time of the coming of Christ? He believed the law of Moses, the prophets, the histories, and the Psalms of David. He had a view of Israel as the premier nation, the nation God had chosen for a special purpose. I like to imagine that the 12 were that type; with all their failings, they were hoping for God’s promises of a kingdom to come true and to be a part of it.

Stephen was not one of the 12. We don’t know, but he might have been a follower in the crowds around Jesus, or he might have been someone who while visiting during the Feast of Pentecost, was such an Israelite like the Apostles. He caught the vision of the Kingdom, but Stephen was amazing. He Continue reading “Acts chapters 6 & 7”

The Matrix – Post 7

The Matrix – The Calling, that is, Election

In the Matrix, Trinity sets up a meeting with Neo (hacker name; his real name is Thomas Anderson), a meeting he doesn’t even know he’s attending. They meet in a place that can be described as a den of iniquity, sin and uncleanness.

In their introduction to each other, she meets him and says, “Hello, Neo.” He asks, “How do you know that name?” She answers: “I know alot about you.” When she tells him her name, he asks, “The Trinity? that cracked the IRS D-base?” She says, “That was a long time ago.” He says, “Jesus!” She says, “What?”

The Trinity as Witnesses – Judgment

The Trinity as Witnesses – Judgment

The Trinity as Witnesses– Download the Doc

The Trinity, an eternally existing community of equally-divine persons living in perfect harmony & love, defines the ideal community.  The Trinity explains the basis for God’s creation of plural persons & how He expects them to live in community.  Otherwise, how would a single, lone Creator even have a concept of community among equals. Even if He had created angels of equal dignity, how does this Creator, who had never had to deal with anyone as an equal, teach them to live as equals?

Modern Idolatry – Courts as Kings, as Infallible

Modern Idolatry

Federal courts are constitutional entities authorized by God to determine and apply the law to the lives and businesses of Americans, equally and without partiality. According to Romans 13 and the rest of the bible, such authorities like the federal courts are to protect the righteous and punish the wicked. This is a godly function to be highly revered and obeyed. Your interpretation of the courts’ function can easily become godless. How?

First Commandment: “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt; you shall have no other gods before Me.” Second Commandment: Continue reading “Modern Idolatry – Courts as Kings, as Infallible”

Don’t compromise on the age of the earth – It Won’t Work

Don’t compromise on the age of the earth – It Won’t Work.

Separating the age of the earth from macro-evolution – you just can’t do it, no matter how hard you try. But Christians, even so-called strong, orthodox, conservative teachers & preachers, like Charles Hodge, 1800’s, & B.B. Warfield, successor to Hodge at Princeton.

So Christians attempt to fit the bible into the box of modern, atheistic science when they try to compromise on the age of the earth. They separate the age of the earth from macro-evolution. If we were simply discussing the “age of the earth” all by itself, there would be no problem. Was it created in 4004 BC or 4006 BC? Does it really make a difference? Those types of questions approach in importance the issue about the number of angels dancing on the head of a pin. But if we’re allegedly off by billions of years, we’re talking about something entirely different.

Matthew 24, part 3 – It was right in front of us all along

Matthew 24, part 3 – It was right in front of us all along

It does not take complex degrees from seminary or understanding of the Greek to figure out the meaning of Matthew 24. Just read it for what Jesus intended. He’s the Christ, and He’s a prophet, the final prophet, but not the only one. He speaks like the prophets of old, like Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Zechariah. Ever read them? They use colorful, picturesque language to make their point as powerfully, as poignantly, as effectively as possible. Do you think God has no emotion? He created us with emotions. His prophets’ language expresses emotion and great meaning.

The Matrix – post 6

The Matrix – Morpheus = John the Baptist

Morpheus is an obvious John the Baptist type, in that the Oracle reveals that he would find “the One,” he taught many others about “the truth,” and he gives his life for the sake of the One. At least, he thinks he is giving his life. In the end, the One shows his preeminence by saving Morpheus.
